Information about the Department
The Department of Optometry, SVDU has introduced a 4-year full-time Bachelor of Optometry, 2-year full-time Master of Optometry program and Ph.D. Optometry (3 years regular or 4 year part-time). These courses offers comprehensive training that fosters strong conceptual, analytical, and technical skills, preparing students for a successful career in the eye-care.
These programs aims to equip students with the expertise to perform comprehensive eye examinations and qualify them to work as skilled optometrists in tertiary eye care centers, multispecialty hospitals, contact lens clinics, low vision and binocular vision clinics, and vision therapy centers. Graduates can also pursue careers with global vision care companies.
Throughout these courses, students engage in research, participate in national community eye camps, screenings, and gain exposure through clinical and industrial visits.
